With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Abel González Mendoza, who departed this life on Monday, May 11, 2026, in Garland, Texas. Born in the peaceful town of San José de Cervantes, San Luis Potosí, Mexico, Abel lived a life filled with love and dedication.
Abel is survived by his beloved wife, María Casimira, who remained by his side throughout life’s many journeys. Together they built a beautiful family, leaving behind a legacy of love and unity. He was a devoted father to his sons, Leopoldo, José Guadalupe, and Juan Carlos, and dearly loved his daughters, Dominga, María del Rosario, Herminia, and Irma. Abel’s life was further enriched by his 25 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren, each of whom brought him immense joy and pride.
He is also survived by his brothers, Natalio, Benito, and Cecilio, and his sisters, Vicenta and Gregoria, who will forever cherish his memory in their hearts. Abel was preceded in death by his beloved son, Abel; his sisters, Ángela and Amelia; and his parents, Maria and Valente, with whom he has now been reunited.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during the visitation and viewing at Pilar Funeral Home in Garland, Texas, on Monday, May 18, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. A service celebrating Abel’s life will be held, followed by his burial at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rowlett, Texas, on Tuesday, May 19, 2026.
Abel’s final resting place will be Sacred Heart Cemetery, where he will rest peacefully, surrounded by the love of his family and the beauty of nature.
Abel González Mendoza will be remembered for his unwavering love for his family, his kindness, and his enduring spirit. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
