Ivana Stegnar Sopianac

Ivana Stegnar Sopianac was a devoted Catholic, mother, daughter, sister, teacher, author and friend. She passed away peacefully on February 16, 2026 at the age of 90. 

She is survived by her beloved son, Mark; her two sisters, Melita and Maria; three nieces and one nephew; and many cousins in her native and cherished Croatia. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother. 

During her 40-year teaching career, Ivana taught at the elementary, secondary, and university levels. Over four decades as a bilingual educator, she touched the lives of thousands of students with talent, compassion, and unwavering dedication to their success. 

She embodied motherhood in its truest form and will be profoundly missed by her son, family, friends, and all whose lives she enriched. 

A Rosary will be prayed at 11:00 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 12:00 p.m. on February 20, 2026 at St. Bernard of Clarivaux Catholic Church at 1404 Old Gate Lane, Dallas, Texas. Burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Rowlett, Texas.
