James Gyempeh

James (Jimmy) Kwabena Gyempeh

James Gyempeh passed away peacefully on October 13, 2025 at home surrounded by his loving family. Born on September 6, 1946 in Kumasi, Ghana; Jimmy was the son of the late Mr. Kwame Nsiah and Madam Adwoa Serwaa.

As a young adult, Jimmy learned to be an auto mechanic through apprenticeship and would later own an auto shop where he trained apprentices. He immigrated to the USA in 1974 and landed at Charlotte, North Carolina on July 17, 1974. Jimmy attended Belmont Vocational Textile School, where he obtained his Associate degree in Textile Engineering. He started working as an assembler and worked his way up to be a technician lead for the company, Computer Automation.

On July 27, 1977; Jimmy married the love of his life, Elizabeth Asare now Betty Gyempeh. Over their 48 years of marriage; they moved to Texas, had a daughter and son and took up permanent residence in Garland, Texas. Jimmy will be remembered as a devoted husband, father, and grandfather with a passion for sharing wisdom, loving Christ and his family.

He is survived by spouse Betty Gyempeh, daughter Suzette (Dylan), son Samuel (Kayla), and grandchildren Cameron, Charlotte, and Jordyn. In addition to his wife, children, and grandchildren; Jimmy is survived by sister Hanna Mensah, sister Mary Akyaamaa, sister Adwoa Nyame, sister Elizabeth Mensah, and sister Ama Dapaa; as well as multiple nieces and nephews. Preceded in the death by brother Bob Mensah and sister Akosua Pokuaa.

A viewing and service will be held at 12:00 pm on Friday, October 17, 2025 at Lavon Drive Baptist Church, 1520 Lavon Dr. Garland TX 75040. Following the service; burial will take place at 3:00 pm at Garland Memorial Park, 1600 S Garland Ave Garland TX 75040. The family welcomes you to their home afterwards for refreshments.
