Rodney Destry Dinkins, a beloved husband, father, brother, grandfather, and great-grandfather, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 3rd, 2026, in Red Oak, Texas. Born on Wednesday, November 7th, 1945, in Vivian, Louisiana, Rodney lived a life marked by dedication, service, and love.
Rodney proudly served his country as a member of the U.S. Navy, where he exemplified the values of honor, courage, and commitment. His service to the nation was a testament to his character and dedication to the greater good.
Rodney is survived by his devoted wife, Verna, who stood by his side through life's many adventures. He leaves behind a loving family, including his cherished daughter, Loni; his beloved sisters, Hazel and Effie; and his treasured granddaughters, Nicole and Jessica. Rodney's legacy continues through his great-grandchildren, Mya, Mercy, Mila, Eleanor, and Rogan, who brought immense joy to his life.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects during a viewing and visitation at New Life Church in Garland, TX, on Saturday, March 14th, 2026, from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. A graveside service will be held at DFW National Cemetery in Dallas, TX, on Wednesday, March 18th, 2026, at 9:15 am, where Rodney will be laid to rest with the honors befitting his service.
Rodney Destry Dinkins will be remembered for his unwavering dedication to his family, his country, and his community. His memory will live on in the hearts of those who knew and loved him.
